I know that I've already posted about the good time we had at the wax museum, but Kennedy had seen that post and wanted to go herself. I'm posting some of the pics from that trip because it was fun to see their personalities come out. They really had a good time together. The pictures got funnier the longer we were there.
It's just to dang hot to do anything outside for more than a minute. I die just walking outside to get the mail. This past month Mike and I have missed MASS more than we ever thought we would. I don't know if this extreme hot weather has anything to do with that feeling.
Anyway, since we can't do anything outside, we discovered indoor mini golf for today's adventure. But what makes "King Putt" even better, is that everything glows in the dark with the help of black lights. I just dropped the kids off for their game so I could go back and get ready for work. Cord was very upset when he couldn't stay and play with the ball. On our way back to pick the kids up, Cord threw up all over the car. The poor kid was just covered in it and you can imagine what the car smelled like (still does). The kids were dying the whole way home even though we were driving on the freeway with the windows down. While I was cleaning up Cord after we got home the girls walked up the street to get a treat from Golden Spoon. I think it was all but melted by the time they walked home.
Today was the day to hit the strip and visit M&M world along with Coke-a-cola world. Kennedy asked, "Is there any other world I need to know about?" They are just basically stores but it's fun to look. In M&M world they also have a little "factory" type thing where you can pretend you are a M&M getting made. They also have a free 3D movie titled "I lost my M in Vegas". I just love the outfits that Brianna and Kennedy had put together. Aren't they stylin? Since we have to do some things while Mason is in school, I decided to go back with him to the MM World while the girls were out on the lake. He loved going inside the "candy coating" and watch it spin around and around. I got dizzy just standing there.
The kids museum here has a special exhibit for the summer titled "grossology- the study of impolite science". It deals with stinky smells, sounds, burps, snot, and the digestive system. It was actually very funny. They also had a huge "Operation game". The kids museum was also great. The kids explored for over 2 hours making huge bubbles, experiencing 80 mile/per/hr hurricane winds, musical games, making their shadows freeze against a wall, measuring their heart rate, playing virtual sports, etc. There is also a section just for little kids, however we didn't take Cord because it was right during nap time. We'll have to make sure to take him again. I'm sure Brianna and Mason won't mind :)
Poor girl, she (Kennedy)hasn't seen all the Harry Potter movies and isn't as excited as us for the newest one. Since we can't wait to see it, we had to drag her along. But first the girls were having her watch all the others (HP marathon) to catch her up. After we had a BBQ with the missionaries, we headed to a late night showing. I think she enjoyed it as much as we did!
For the last 4 years we have had my niece, Kennedy, come join us for a week or so in the summer and we do a lot of activities together. This is our first time in Vegas. We started out with a bang by attending a David Archuleta (our favorite american idol and cute little mormon boy) and Demi Lovato (a disney star from camp rock, etc) concert. What a good show. Chelsea LOVED hearing David sing live and all the girls had a good time rocking out to Demi's songs. Mason was content to sit quietly by me and clap occasionally. It was fun to see the girls let loose a little bit and have a good time. The show was very entertaining.
Another quick trip up north, this time for the Alldredge family reunion that was held in Fillmore. We decided we could head up for just one day of fun, and have a little time to visit with my cousins. Chelsea wanted to go and hang out with her cousins Kayla and Rachel so we had to intercept their trip home from girls camp. Unfortunately they ended up not being able to come up so Chelsea spent a lot of time sitting in the car watching a movie or listening to music. Brianna decided to head on back to vegas. We also took my neice, Kennedy, up with us for the day. It was a long day driving up 2 1/2 hrs and then back home again but it was a good day. We got there in time for lunch and then to the city pool that was rented just for our family. After swim time, the kids had fun just playing in my uncles backyard while the adults got to visit and chill-ax. One of the favorite features of the reunion is the auction. Family members make and donate several special items that are then auctioned off to help fund the next years reunion. Sometimes my dad is the "auctioneer". This year Kennedy got to be his assistant. My dad is really good at driving up the prices which can be kind of obnoxious when it's something I really want. He makes it fun though. Here I get a little time to relax talking with my mom and sister in the shade. It was hot even in Fillmore until the sun started going down. After the auction we had to drive back to St. George so we could head to Vegas in the morning.
The girls headed off to girls' camp this morning for the rest of the week. This year it's on the ward level and they are going to Zions National Park. Does it count as camp if they don't stay in tents??? They'll be staying at a family ranch up there and spend time hiking the narrows. I'll really miss them because they are my big helpers. I gave them each a camera so hopefully they'll take lots of pictures. I started a tradition when Chelsea first went to camp. I packed her a little care package to open up every day. Since this is Brianna's first year, I couldn't disappoint her (she helped me with Chelsea's 2 years ago). I hope they have a good time and bond with some of the girls in our ward. And I hope they don't kill eachother. Here's a pic of their little "secret mommy" gifts.
We had one last fun day planned with Grandma before She had to go home. We took her to the Venetian to experience some of the fun sites there. Our first stop was to the wax museum. I had never been here but always wanted to go. The characters are so life-like. I even got to play with Brad Pitts hair :0. The girls had a lot fun posing with the characters and I'm sure you'll see more of their pics pop up on their facebook or the website Brianna has set up (sorry, don't know how to get to it) I think we gave Grandma the ultimate "Vegas" experience. She gambled (lost her whole $3.00 to the slot machines), had a drink at a bar (had smoothies at the bar at the Rainforest Cafe before our show - KA), got married (to George Clooney - turns out he likes older women), and auditioned to be a showgirl. I'm sure she is thinking that her life is complete now! Here I am with my heart-throb - TIM MCGRAW! He is coming to Vegas in October but I can't bring myself to go alone. Mike doesn't want to go and I don't want to waste the money on the girls because they aren't crazy about country. Anyone want to come down and join me????? This picture is for my dad. My dad enjoys a good John Wayne movie whenever he can. My grandma loves to shop. And while we couldn't afford even a shoelace here in the Canal Shops, it's fun to wander around, enjoy the window displays, and pretend you are in Italy. Brianna was in heaven with all the shoes and bags there. I enjoy watching the "statues" move very slowly. There was also this huge waterfall in the middle of the mall with tons of umbrellas hanging from the ceiling. Our last adventure for the day was to take a gondala ride. I figure it's the closest thing I'll ever to get to Italy. Our driver sang to us almost the whole time in Italian. We didn't even mind all the folks galking at us as we passed through the shopes. We hated to see our fun afternoon end. On our way out, Grandma treated us all to a scoop of Gellato (?sp). It was very refreshing.
