Spring LVA dance concert

The last dance concert of Brianna's freshman year did not disappoint.  She even had some solos and staring roles.  She even made me cry because I was so proud.  We can't take pictures during the concert but I love Brianna's pictures from her experience backstage.  You can tell she has a lot of fun with her friends as they get their creative juices flowing.

Guitar Awards concert

This is Chelsea's 3rd year in guitar and we love hearing the group play.  I've been bugging her all year that I wanted to see a solo this year.  She takes lessons from her teacher and I wanted to see some results.  She's been avoiding the discussion lately and tonight I found out why.  She wanted to surprise me with a solo during the concert.  She also called my parents a couple weeks ago and invited them down to see her (without telling me).  Imagine my surprise when I show up to the concert and see my parents (from St. George) sitting there saving me a seat!!  Great night!  I know it meant so much to Chelsea to have them there and I love visiting with my parents.  I had called my mom today and had a long "catch up" conversation and she didn't let on at all.  Now I understand why Chelsea's room is suddenly clean and Mike (who also knew) had the kids cleaning up the house last night.  She pulled off a great surprise, silly girl!

After the concert Mr Nishimoto gave out the awards. Chelsea got a participation award, she lettered again this year, and she was voted "most improved" by her class. She has worked hard and we are grateful for her teacher who is so encouraging.

We are also grateful for the friends who came to support her on this night,
Jake and her friend Katrina.

Can you see how much Chelsea loves her grandparents?  They have a special bond.  It really meant a lot to her that they traveled down just for her.  It was fun to visit with them tonight and we look forward to grandma's famous scones in the morning!!!

They brought Ethan with them so Mason got surprised with a cousin sleepover.  It is interesting that both boys got glasses within a month of each other for similar problems.  Don't they look smart??

YUMMY

Doesn't this look yummy?  Chelsea decided to get creative tonight and make her famous cake pops.  She made milk chocolate and mint chocolate.  I don't even want to know how many calories these have, they are THAT GOOD!

Band Concert

The end of the year is upon us which means lots of concerts to attend.  Tonight we got to hear Mason play in the advance band.  They sounded AWESOME!  I was truly impressed.  Mason has been taking saxaphone lessons and has gotten really good (I'm just saying).  He was the only saxaphone in his group that was put in symphonic band for next year (the highest level of band).  He didn't want to try out for jazz band because he didn't want to go early in the morning but at least he's sticking with it for now.

Chickens

Cord's preschool class has been studying how baby chicks grow from eggs in these special incubators.  Cord is always telling me about it but doesn't know when they'll hatch.  When I took him to school yesterday we had discovered that one had already hatched.  The kids were really excited.

Knowing what they are studying in class because very helpful the other day when I saw this......

Cord is burried deep inside these two inflatable inner tubes.  When I asked him what was going on, he replied that he was a baby chick in an incubator and was going to hatch in a "surprise amount of days".  So I had to wait, and wait, and pretend to go to sleep, then wake up 3 times before I saw the egg start to "crack".

A baby boy chick slowly emerged from his egg and told me his name was "Buster".  The baby chick hopped all over the backyard until it got back into the egg and we started the game all over again.  He has a great imagination.

The Event 2012

Tonight Chelsea and Jake went to "The Event - 2012", otherwise known as "Mormon Prom".  We have several stakes get together to host this special dance for Laurels and Priests.  They help the kids get dates and dresses and then they have host families provide a nice dinner for them. Chelsea went with a fun group of friends and I followed them to take some pictures before they headed to dinner.  They had a lot of fun with different poses until it got to hot to stand outside anymore.  After the dance they are planning to go get some dessert and maybe catch a late movie.  Chelsea looked GORGEOUS as usual, opting to try the updo this time, and with Jake they made a very handsome couple.
