Cord's Thanksgiving Progam

Cord's kindergarten presented a little Thanksgiving program for the parents today.  It was so cute!  They sang a lot of fun songs (that Cord's been singing to us ALL month).  Then the teacher read a story.  Cord was dressed up as "popcorn".  Whenever the story said the word ( popcorn) in the story, they jumped up and yelled "POP, POP, POP".

After the program the children got to have their own "feast".  School can be so much fun!  Cord has made a lot of fun friends and really loves going to school.

It's finally looking like fall around here.  In the last week I've noticed a lot of trees finally turning colors.  I love it!!

Donuts with Dad

Mike got to go to school with Cord to day to share a little breakfast.  Love the cute picture they gave them to remember this fun bonding moment.

Sweet 16

16 years ago our family was blessed with another beautiful baby girl.  Hard to believe that much time has passed.  We've had a great weekend celebrating Brianna's birthday.  Friday Brianna got her new iphone.  I think she was a little excited.

Saturday afternoon we went to see the movie "Wreck it Ralph" as a family and that night Mike and I took her out to eat at her favorite restaurant, Lucille's (a BBQ place).

After dinner, she met up with her friends at the Stake dance.  She got home around 11:30.  I hurried her off to bed knowing what was coming.  Just after midnight, Clair and Lahi snuck into her room and kidnapped her.  They hauled her off to ihop for celebrate on her "real" birthday.

Today is her real birthday and she's lucky because she gets to dress up and go to church.  She is officially a Laurel today.  Isn't she beautiful!

We then had a special family dinner and then had an ice cream cake.  We finished the night with family movie night and watched the new Spiderman movie.  That's a lot of celebrating.  She does have a party planned with her friends that will happen at the end of the month so stay tuned.

Close your eyes and make a wish.  I hope they all come true.

Mason's dream comes true

I know it seems a little shallow, but to this kid, this is the happiest day of his life!  He's been waiting (and saving his money) for over 6 months for HALO 4 to come out.  He made a deal with his dad that if he saved up half of the money, they could buy the ultimate, extemded edition with all the fun extra's. He can hardly contain his excitement.   It's to bad it came out on a school night.

Changes

Chelsea has had a couple of big changes lately.  She kept asking me if she should cut bangs, I kept advising her against it because the last time she cut bangs she immediately hated it.  But told her ultimately it was her decision.  She decided to go for it and I have to admit that she was right, they look amazing this time on her.  What a fun change.

The second big change for Chelsea is her car.  She worked hard all summer and saved her money to buy a car that would be reliable enough to take to college.  After months of looking, her daddy finally found this 2003 Ford Escape for her.  I like that it's up high and has 4 wheel drive for driving in the snow.  She loves it!  I'm very grateful for all the driving that she does for me and the help she provides in getting kids here and there.  I'm also proud that she saved half of the money for this car.

Big boy band

The 8th grade band members were invited to join with Coronado HS marching band for the football game tonight.  The were assigned a buddy in the HS band and they showed them what it's all about.  They were jumping around, cheering, and playing together.  They looked like they were having a good time together.

At half-time they all gathered on the track.  After the marching band did their show (which was amazing), the 8th graders joined with them to play what I assume is the Coronado fight song.  They sounded AWESOME!

The amazing view from the football field of the strip.

I was so excited about the thought of Mason being involved in something so big.  They really seemed like a cohesive group.  I'm sure they work hard, but they play hard too.  When I quizzed Mason about it at the end of the night, he said he didn't want to do it because all they do is "stand around all day".  Bummer..... I can still hope though :)

Harvest Festival

Cord's school had their Harvest Festival today.  Brianna went with me to take Cord so he could have fun doing all the carnival games.   I didn't bring my good camera but got a few pics on my phone.

These bouncy horses were so funny.  Everytime Cord bounced down the head came back and smacked him in the face but he kept going.  I laughed so hard (is that mean???)

It was good, cheap, family fun.

Early Voting

I'm so grateful for early voting this year because I work on "voting day".  The race between Obama and Romney has been really close in Nevada so I felt compelled to make sure I vote this year.  It's equally exciting that Chelsea is now eligible to vote this year.  I'm really proud of her because she's been watching the debates, taking notes, and studying the candidates so she can make an informed decision.  I took her down with me today so can make our voice count.  While I was waiting for her to finish up, one of the workers asked if she was voting for the first time.  I said, Yes.  As she was walking out, she yelled out "first time voter!".  Everyone cheered and she just looked at me funny.

Now that we've done our part, we just have sit back and watch what happens on Tuesday!
