First day of school 2013

It's time to go back.  Cord is in first grade at Vanderburg Elementary.

Cord starts school at 9:00.  He gets to find his class spot outside to line up by 8:50.

Mason is a freshman at Coronado.  His day begins early in the morning with Seminary. He's out the door by 6:30ish.

Brianna is a junior at Las Vegas Acadamy.  She stresses so much about what to wear the first day.  Wants to make a statement.  I think she accomplished her goal.  So stylish.  She is the first person out the door by 5:30 ish to get to her seminary class.

I didn't make signs this year.  It seems weird not to have Chelsea in the pic.  It's weird not to have her at home though.  But she is doing great at Dixie State.

Cord came home very serious.  He told me he would tell me all about his his day when we got home.  After I sat down and he had my full attention.  He told me it was the "worst day ever" and his teacher "hurt my feelings".  Upon further questioning it was because she wouldn't let him bring his sissors home and they are his most favorite sissors ever.  I wish that's all I had to worry about.  I'm sure he'll get over it.  Mason had a great day and loves his schedule.  He's taking over Chelsea's spot in guitar.  Brianna's schedule is all messed up.  She took US history over the summer but still have her in that class instead of ballroom.  And she is in a physics class - oh I don't think so.  We'll have to get that fixed.

Meet the teacher

Today we were going to the school to meet Cord's teacher but we needed to go get a new backback and school supplies first.  As we were getting ready to go Cord yelled out, "I'll be in the car" and he headed out to the garage.  This is how I found him.  haha

Since Cord has uniforms, it's not exciting to shop for school clothes.  So he got to pick out a new back pack and lunch box.  He got a new angry birds lunch box and Mario backpack.

His first grade teacher is Mrs. Sudonick (they call her Mrs. Su).  Cord got to go see his classroom, new desk, and who was in his class.  He kept saying he was "jealous" but I think he meant "nervous".

Temple trip

I got to go with the youth today to the temple.  I had a lot of family names for the kids to do.  I love being in the temple with Mason.  You can see he's grown a bit this summer.  He's gaining on me.

Another driver

Brianna finally got everything done to get her driver's license.  Just in time because now that Chelsea is gone I need her to be able to drive.  After driving her to and from dance for 13 years, she can finally take herself.  I'm so happy I could cry.  Especially for those 1 hr classes. I would spend so much time in the car driving there and back.  For now she is driving her dad's car and he is driving his motorcycle to work.  It will be really nice once school starts to for her to take herself.

College Girl

She's getting all packed up and ready to move to St. George to start her college life.  It's a little bitter sweet because I know I'm going to miss her so much but I'm so excited for her.  I remember how much fun my first year at Utah State was and how much I grew.  That's why I'm excited for her.  She's a little nervous but I know she's ready for this and will do great things.  I'm so proud of her and her ability and strength to take charge of the rest of her life as an adult.  She'll do great things!

I like how she makes sure to take Snoopy with her!

Got everything she could packed into her car.

Mommy and Chelsea date before she left.  We had a good talk, I hugged her, and she said "Don't cry Mom".  OK  I won't (at least in front of you).

She went up to St. George with her friends, Jen and Morgan.  I worked so I would have something else to keep my mind busy.  She sent me this pic so I would know she made it safely, not dead in the ditch somewhere (Alldredge tradition).

She plans to do fun things with her friends for a couple days.  She has freshman orientation on Friday and then officially starts college classes on Monday.  Go DIXIE!

San Francisco, day 3

Day 3 of vacation started off with a ride on the famous trolley.  It's incredible how they get up and down those hills.

When we got to the end of the line, we had to get off and wait in line to get back on.  We did this early in the day because we hear those lines can get really long.  It's amazing to watch them turn the trolley around.

MASON STREET!

We took some time to do a little souvenir shopping.

Driving across the Golden Gate Bridge as we headed over to go see a lighthouse,

The fresh fruit stands are all over.

I love light houses.  This one had a tunnel through the rock to get to it as well as a shaky bridge.  Only 40 people are allowed on the platform at a time.

Cord called the tunnel his "secret passage way".

We then drove over to Muir Woods which is known to have the huge redwood trees, but we couldn't find a spot to park there.  So then we headed to Golden Gate park, but the traffic was so bad getting there that we decided to bag it.  Mason had regretted not buying the picture on Pier 39 that he saw being painted while wandering around there with his dad.  We drove back down to the pier to try and find it.  Again, traffic was so bad!!  Mason and I ended up hopping out of the car while it was in the street, buying the picture, and then running back to the van which hadn't made it very far.  We had all had it with the traffic and headed back to the hotel.

Cord again wanted to swim.  He said, "Take a picture of me being lazy".

Sunday, on the way home, we stopped again at a small farmers market to buy some fresh fruit and take a break.

Mason and his awesome painting.  I had to make sure we got it in a frame and on the wall after all we went through to get it!

I got my ornament to represent this years vacation.  We had some good times.  Hopefully we can go back one day because there's still so much to do there.
