Surround by boys

While the girls are away, the boys will play!! Both girls are at girls camp all week and I'm surrounded by boys. They make me watch transformers cartoons and car shows. But we decided to embrace it today and invited even more boys over to swim and play. I guess it's not so bad to be surround by boys :)

Getting away from the heat

It's nice to be so close to Mount Charleston. We love to go up there to spend the afternoon and escape the heat. We headed up with the kids (and Mason's friend) for some family fun. Mike set up some shade for us and then set up all the games. We had a picnic and then then the kids played badminton. We then had a "friendly" game of bocci ball with a lot of trash talking (not coming from me). After a close game between Mike and I, I must say that I am the McKelleb Bocci Ball Champion!!!! I enjoy being surrounded by nature and watching my family playing together, having a good time.

A family that laughs together, stays together!!

Independence Day

We had planned to take the family up to Mt Charleston to enjoy our 4th of July holiday, but the rain and lightening caused us to go to plan B. That included taking the kids to a movie. Mike took the 3 older kids to see the new Transformers movie while I took Cord to see Cars 2. Then we went and found a place by the Green Valley Resort Casino and waited for the fireworks. We could see fireworks from all over the valley but are still trying to find "the" spot to see all that Vegas has to offer. While we were waiting the kids played some lawn games that we brought with us.

After the show, we went home to have our own celebration. I think the kids enjoyed this part the most. We did our own fireworks and sparklers. We were really missing family and homemade ice cream so we had to end the night with our own (store bought) ice cream. Mason (as part of our scout troop) helped to put up flags. We are all proud to be Americans and love the chance to celebrate our freedoms.

Delayed birthday celebration

I turned 39 while we were on vacation but today the kids and Mike surprised me with a cake and awesome present. You can see on my face that I was really surprised! I didn't expect anything since we had just had this awesome vacation. They got a cake from my favorite place - Nothin Bunt Cakes. Then the kids presented me with a charm for my pandora bracelet to represent each of them. I also had received a charm from my parents to prepresent them so now it's looking great. It was an awesome surprise. I felt so special!

Camp Emerson

We dropped Mason off at Scout camp on our way back from Oregon. He was there all week. I'm sure he had a lot of fun but I hear that he hated all the bugs. My biggest concern was that he wasn't going to eat. But he got home safely and was still alive so I guess all is well. His leader shared the fun pictures he took while they were there.

His favorite activity of the camp was the archery.

The boys took a big long hike the last day.  They were exhausted.
