Haystack rock

We had to find Haystack rock in Cannon beach before we left the area. It's one of the most famous tourist sights in Oregon. It's the world's 4th largest monolithic rock. Cannon beach was also another fun little town that reminded me of Park City. I left my girls there with my parents to enjoy a play at the local theater. The rest of us headed back to the vacation home to play games and chill.

Picnic on the beach

Since we are usually out all day, we pack up a lunch and then find a fun location to eat. We found a fun beach in seaside today. It was a little cold when the wind picked up, but we can't complain about the weather at all. It would rain at night but we never got rained on when we were out trying to see sights. My aunt had gone to these places 2 weeks before and it rained on them every day. This beach was a popular place for surfers apparently and it was fun to watch as we ate. We took advantage of the wind and went down to fly kites on the beach. It's been a long time since we have flown kites so it was fun.

A boy and his stick. Everywhere we went it seems that Cord would find a "beach stick" somewhere. He loved drawing in the sand.

Seaside

Seaside Oregon is more of "tourist" town but we sure had a lot of fun here. As we wandered up and down the streets, we enjoyed lots of fun little shops. They had a carousel inside one of the little malls. They kids had fun spending their money on souvenirs and I bought my Christmas ornaments for the year. There were also fun rides like the bumper cars and tilt-a-whirl. We all laughed so hard as we were smashing into each other. Cord rode with me and laughed the whole time. I also found some "to-die-for" homemade corndogs. YUMMY! At the end of the street was a huge beach. It was fun to enjoy the sand and relax. We also found some paddle boats that we rented for an hour. We raced each other up and down the river. Cord was sitting next to me. Poor guy guy was peddling so hard and kept saying "my legs is tired".... but he wouldn't stop peddling. At one point we all linked up our boats and rode "as one" for a little while. The paddle boats were Mason's favorite part of the day. My favorite shop was called Oregon Photography. I bought a beautiful picture of ........ a lighthouse (big shocker). I can't wait to hang it in my room.
