Day at the Beach

Of the 4 days that we were in San Diego, Saturday was the best - weather wise. I wouldn't say it was "perfect" beach weather but it wasn't bad. Before we hit the beach we did a little shopping at a Seaside Bazarr. Each of the girls found a cool shirt to buy and the boys bought some cute little turtles.

The water was cold, but Chelsea and Katie jumped right in. I think the boys spent the most time in the water. Brianna and Kennedy were content to soak up the sun or play on the sand. Cord loved digging in the sand or throwing rocks in the water. He also loved to run away from the tide before it could get him. Mason enjoyed riding the waves on the board. Cord tried it once but got tipped into the water so he was done. Toward the end the wind picked up and the couds rolled in so we packed up and headed home.

After going home and getting cleaned up, we went back to the beach to grab some dinner at a local burger place that had the best homemade french fries. The kids think we should make it a tradition to eat there. We took a little drive up the coast because I wanted to see a beach sunset. However the clouds denied me the pleasure. But I do enjoy hearing the waves hit the beach. It was very therapeutic.

Visitors Center

They have recently redone the Mormon Battalion Visitors Museum located in Old Town so we were anxious to see it. This was part of Michael's mission area (a long, long, time ago). There were 5 rooms that you wander through where the pictures on the wall interact with you and tell their story. At one point they asked for a volunteer to dress up as a soldier. Mason volunteered and looked quite handsome. At the end you get to chance to pan for gold. At the end of our visit we wandered around Old Town to shop, visited the candy store, and grabbed some ice cream.

Maritime Museum

After Lindsay's blog about their trip to San Diego and talked about how much they enjoyed the Maritime museum, I put it on our "must do" list. Thanks for the tip, we had so much fun here. It's a collection of 5 different ships/ submarines to explore. We also took a 45 minute boat tour around the harbor. It was a different perspective to see San Diego and it was cool to hear about the city.

One of the trials of this trip was all the fights Mason and I got into so I took a picture of him throwing a fit. The problem was that he would be perfectly happy sitting at home in his pj's playing video games for a week and didn't want to branch out and try something new.

I love this picture is that mean? Cord did not want to wear his life jacket on the boat but didn't have a choice. He stopped crying shortly after the ride started, especially after we saw some seals playing in the water.

Thats how we all felt, tired! We had planned to go do some shopping at seaport village but we were too tired.
