Fishing with the cub scouts

The boys and I headed out with the scout troop this morning for a little fishing. The weather was perfect, no wind and max in the 80's today. Mason had a great time. Cord even had a lot of fun with his little fishing pole. He kept trying to "cast" his line but it wasn't long enough. I should have thought ahead and taken some long string or something. I was so afraid he was going to fall in the water because he was trying to make his string touch like all the big boys.

Here's Cord pouting because I wouldn't let him closer to the water. It made for a cute picture though. He screamed at me after I took it, hehe.

So we didn't scare the fish with Cord's screaming, we wandered around the pond. There were HUGE ducks wandering around. They were as big as Cord so it was almost scary. Cord also had fun petting all the doggies that were walking around.

Mason said, "I had the biggest catch of the day.....a tree." He got his line stuck in a tree when he threw it back to cast it. Brother Grace was kind enough to help him "release" the tree. He also caught a bug on the end of his line. In the end only 3 fish were caught, two of them by sisters of the scouts, and one by Mason's friend, Nicholas. Unfortunately Nicholas's fish was too small and they had to let it go. I'm not sure who took the fish home but they were really going to eat them.......really? To each his own. I'd rather stick to fish sticks :) I remember being traumatized once as a child having to eat the fish we caught and getting a fish bone stuck in my throat. That was the end of my fish eating days. I do have fond memories of fishing with my daddy though.

Dance Team

Brianna has been dancing since she was 3. She loves it and we often catch her dancing around the house. She decided that she wanted to try out for the middle schools dance team. She didn't really care if she made it or not but she was going to do her best. We were excited when she made the first cut on wednesday. They were going to cut the remaining 32 girls down to 18. Then we found out today that she made the team!!! We are all excited for her. I still remember the first time she had to preform as a 3 year old. She was so scared I didn't think she was going to do it. But she grabbed her little leaves and dressed in her pink tutu she followed Chelsea onto the stage. She kept her eyes right on her dance teacher and did a great job. She has come a long way since that day!

With the H1N1 (swine flu) epidemic, this is the latest fashion that will be hitting all the runways this winter. It is such a sexy look don't you agree?

Pinewood Derby

We just got back from our wards Pinewood Derby. Our stake just sets up the track for all day and then assigns the ward a time to come. Because we had the most boys, we were assigned the last time. It was an exciting race, with a lot of cool cars. Mason's friend made his car look like a gecko! Mason had a good feeling about his cool car with the fire decals. Each car raced twice, Mason's car won both his races. And he set a new track record of 2.6254 seconds. WOW! That means his car was the fastest of the whole day. So he took first and got a cool medal. He also won an award for most creative design. We can't wipe the smile from his face right now. A big thanks to Kent for helping Mason with his car since his daddys tools are packed and scattered right now. He is the Pinewood Derby master!

I videoed the first race and took pictures of the second. Of course in the second race his car was faster, but set a new track record with both races.

Tired

Even little storm troopers get tired sometimes. Cord has been having difficulty with his naps lately so he ran errands with me this afternoon. This is how it ended.

The pumpkin patch

Mason is off track for the whole month of October so we were looking for something fun to do. These little play areas have sprung up all over the valley and I learned they are called the "pumpkin patch". They have a bounce house, inflatable slide, bungee cords on a trampoline, and a couple other little kiddie rides. We headed there on monday morning thinking we were going to have a good time. Unfortunately the wind was blowing hard enough that they had just deflated the bounce features. And then we learned that the bungee ride was only open in the afternoon. So we went to the lamest petting zoo I have ever seen, petted the goats, chased the chickens, took a few pictures then came home. It's open until Halloween so I'm sure we'll try again when the weather is better. It's nice to see a bunch or orange pumpkins though. Feels like autumn.

My Blog Book

After seeing Brenda's book, I decided that I really needed to print my blog and save it forever. I finally did it and it arrived in the mail this week. I'm so excited about it. It was so much fun to look through it and remember all of the wonderful experiences and friends that we made last year. It's hard bound and very high quality. I would highly recommend it to all of my blogging friends. It's a great way to preserve the memories. www.blog2print.com

Hard Rock Cafe

For birthdays each child gets to go out to dinner with mom and dad wherever they want. Now that we are in Vegas there are a ton of new options. Chelsea wanted to go to the Hard Rock Cafe. Lucky for her I forgot my camera. While we waited for our dinner I wandered around the cafe looking at all the rock memorabilia. I'm not really a hard rock fan so most of it didn't mean much to me. There was a guitar from Elvis, some shoes from Michael Jackson, and an outfit from Madonna. But other than that I didn't recognize any other names. The dinner was tasty. The waiter asked why we were there and we told him it was Chelsea's birthday. So after the meal he showed up with a ice cream sunday with a candle in it. He made her stand up by the table. Then he yelled out to the whole restaurant, "Hey, this is Chelsea and today she is turning 15. Lets all yell Happy Birthday Chelsea". He had lit the candle and she blew it out. And I forgot my camera - bummer. She was so cute standing up there. It was a nice end to the evening.

Happy Birthday Chelsea
