The Event 2012

Tonight Chelsea and Jake went to "The Event - 2012", otherwise known as "Mormon Prom".  We have several stakes get together to host this special dance for Laurels and Priests.  They help the kids get dates and dresses and then they have host families provide a nice dinner for them. Chelsea went with a fun group of friends and I followed them to take some pictures before they headed to dinner.  They had a lot of fun with different poses until it got to hot to stand outside anymore.  After the dance they are planning to go get some dessert and maybe catch a late movie.  Chelsea looked GORGEOUS as usual, opting to try the updo this time, and with Jake they made a very handsome couple.

More fun with Soccer

Cord has had a lot of fun playing soccer with his team, the Chargers, every saturday morning.  They are really cute out there on the field.  Cord's favorite position is the goalie, but he has also had fun with the other spots.  He'll stick with the pack and try to get the ball, and laugh along the way.

It's always fun when you are in charge of the snacks.  Here he is "arranging" it so it will be ready for his team.

During their last practice, they decided to have a water party.  They played water kickball and had a water balloon fight.  We also had lots of fun frozen treats on hand for the kids.  Perfect way to end the season.

Then they handed out the trophies.  It's cool because the soccer ball spins.

I'm so lucky to be a mom

I love that my kids are older and are thinking of their own ideas for Mother's day.  They did spoil me today.  Mason (enlisting the help of his dad) made me a yummy breakfast.

Cord made a fun gift at preschool.  He created the flower pot and had some flower seeds for us to plant together.  I just hope something grows because Im NOT known for my green thumb.

"I love my mom because she goes swmming with me".  He then drew a picture of a pool and a big X which means he can't go in the pool without his mommy.

Since that was the one thing that Cord loves about his mom, we decided to all go swimming after church.  :)

Chelsea surprised me with these beautiful flowers and a fun card that all the kids signed.  She also got me the movie "We bought a zoo".  So we ended the evening with movie night.  Later that night I found an awesome homemade card under my pillow from Brianna that said some very nice, thoughtful things.

Ready for movie night with our popcorn and orange julius.  I'm so lucky to have 4 fabulous kids and I appreciated how they showed their love to me today!

Makeover for Mason

As the weather gets hotter, I was able to talk Mason into finally getting a shorter haircut and getting rid of the shag.  We left it longer in the front still but the back is "normal boy" short.  He actually really likes it because now his hair doesn't get caught in his googles when we swim.

Then he had a vision screening at school where we found out that his left eye is VERY near sighted while the right is OK.  He's just been compensating this whole time.  So we headed down to the eye Dr. and got him these really cool glasses.  They even changed shades in the sunlight.  It's amazing to be able to see for the first time.  "Oh what a feeling..."

More of the shorter hair :)

Now we dress him up for church and the sight of my handsome, more mature, boy emerges.  I thought he even looked taller but alas, we compared him to the measurement line on the wall from last february and there has not been any more growth in the height department.  One day we hope he'll shoot up in his sleep.  But he is still a pretty good-looking kid.

Trip to the farm

Last field trip for Cord's preschool was down to the Boulder City Corrals, otherwise known as "the farm".  It's a place where us city folks could rent a space to keep a horse.  The kids had a lot of fun feeding the horses and goats carrots and learning all their names.  Cord looked even more adorable wearing his cowboy hat down there.  I have enjoyed the fun little trips that we've got to do together with his fun class.  As the year gets closer to an end, Cord keeps coming home from school saying "I'm ready to be a kindergarten boy"  Yup, almost.

National Honor Society induction ceremony

We got to go to Brianna's school tonight and see her induction into the NHS. After a lot of speeches about things we didn't really listen to, they had a candelight ceremony. The fun thing was getting to meet some of Brianna's school friends.
