Trunk or Treat

Tonight our ward had a fun trunk or treat Halloween party. We have the most awesomest ward ever. So many people decorated their trunks, had fun games for the kids, and many adults were dressed up. The young women were doing a cake walk and the bishopric had chilli and cornbread. The kids were excited to dress up and have fun with their friends. We finally had secured the costumes for the kids, which wasn't easy this year.

Cord wanted to be something different everyday but finally settled on a transformers costume. But if you ask him what he is he'll say "Optimus Prime" He likes the built in muscles in the costume, I like that he is "squishy". When he first put it on he lifted his arms in the airs and said "I can lift a train". We have to keep the costume put away until Halloween so it doesn't get ruined.

Brianna wanted to dressed up with her friends as the 3 witches from Hocus Pocus. She (of course) was the "blond" witch. We found a cute dress at a second hand store that she ripped up. The other friends decided not to do the witch thing, but she is still super cute.

Mason, Mason, Mason...... his costume has been the biggest headache this year. He just couldn't decide what he wanted to be. I've made several suggestions, only to be denied. Last friday the youth had a Halloween party, he went with his friends without a costume. It was there that he fell in love with the black Morph costume. HUH? It's an all black, spandex, body suit. Several kids had one (including his best friend, Nick). They could hide in dark places and scare people. He thought that was hilarious. I didn't want to spend money on this odd thing because I didn't think he'd really wear it, especially to school. He was very insistent. We went to 5 different costume stores looking for this thing (all the time I'm suggesting other ideas). I even called 2 other stores but they were all sold out. On monday it looked like he was going to have no costume at all. I got up tuesday afternoon and started calling more stores. I finally found the very last costume in this whole city that was his size, and it was on the other side of town (about 35 min away on the freeway). So, like the sucker I am, I drove all the way over there for this costume and got back in time to get to the party. I didn't have time to decorate our trunk or do any fun games, but Mason was super excited. I was also surprised when we got there to see that about half of the boys were wearing some type of Morph suit. So I stand corrected on the "stupid" factor that I thought this costume had.

I wish my pictures were better, but it was dark.

Cord was digging into the cake that he won (with Brianna's help) at the cake walk. I think this cake was actually dinner. I'm once again earning my "Mother of the Year" award.

The difference a hat makes..

I don't mean to bore you with more cute pics of Cord playing baseball, but this week he finally has his hat. It makes a huge difference ;0 He looks like a "real" baseball player now. So here's some of my favorites. Chelsea was running the camera this week and caught some fun ones.

This is Cord and his buddy Matt. He's the one who got us into this fun sport. Cord loves playing with him too.

Homework

Sure seems like we are doing a lot of this lately......homework. When Mason gets home he gets set up and starts his homework. Cord likes to feel included so he breaks out his coloring books and crayons so he can do his "homework" too. I guess it's quality brother time.

Brianna's LVA dance concert (behind the scenes)

Brianna had her first dance concert with LVA this weekend. She had two dances and did great. She took my camera with her. I discovered these fun pics of what goes on back stage. I guess they are super silly as they are getting ready to preform. It's probably because of the "artist" inside them.

Chelsea turns the big 17

Chelsea turned 17 yesterday! WooHoo! She said to me that she didn't want anything for her birthday......except for maybe a car. She's so sweet. I told her not to get her hopes up. I brought her a bunch of cupcakes during lunch yesterday for her to share. Then that night she gets to pick anywhere she wants to go out to eat. She chose to go Cafe Rio and then over to Nielson's Custard for dessert. It was super yummy.

Tonight she planned a party with her friends. She invited her friends to go to see the premier of Footloose and then they went to a park and had some pizza and cake. I got her a sash that said "One year more Fabulous". She had meantioned a crown or something, but I found this cute hat with the same button. Pink isn't her color, but she wore them with pride anyway. I also put a button on her that said "kiss me, it's my birthday". It's fun to see Chelsea having fun with her friends. She really has a great group of friends. As soon as we got home, she took off again with her friends to a local festival. She's growing up and is showing her independence. She is growing up into a beautiful young lady.
