Competition photos

Saturday is a busy day

Yesterday was a busy day. I dropped Brianna off at the dance comp at 7:00 AM. Then I went home to get Mason and drop him off at the pool. After Mason was done earning his merit badge, I took Chelsea out shopping. We need to get started painting her room but needed to pick out the bed set she wanted in order to pick out the right paint colors. She immediately fell in love with this set and it was on sale! We added a few fun textured pillows to make it perfect. Now we can pick paint and get started on making her room fabulous! Then we worked on unpacking the boxes in her room so she could actually see the floor. It was like Christmas for her. She was going through boxes that she packed back in Ivins. We found all of her dance trophies. That brought back a lot of memories. Her room looks so much bigger now. Her daddy has hung up these hooks on the wall so she can hang up her guitars. Super cool. One guitar is the cheap one we bought in Mass to get her interested. The other one is the nice one we recently got her. She'll be starting lessons the end of the month. We really want to support and encourage her talent. She loves to sit on her bed and play in the privacy of her own room. I love to hear the music coming from the walls.

While I was busy running kids and helping Chelsea unpack, Mike was outside working on the pool and fixing the sprinklers in front. Cord is his little shadow whenever he is working outside. Mike did leave this for me on the table. Why is it that homegrown flowers smell so much better than store bought ones? They are beautiful. I love all the colors and think the purple one is very interesting. For the last 3 weeks Mike has been working on the pool almost every night. He has pronounced it "READY" for the plunge. I have the cutest pool boy on the block! Now we just need the warm weather to come back. I'm ready to sit in the hot tub and relax, especially after busy days like saturays.

Hollywood Connections

This weekend is Brianna's last dance competition of the season. The girls get to do classes all morning and then preform/compete in the evening. Brianna has really enjoyed this past year of dancing. It's been a lot of hard work but she has learned so much and really improved. The workshops are lead by professional dancers in areas she's not really studied in before, but she loves it.

After they preform the groups gather on the stage and wait for their results. Brianna's group took 2nd in their division and their dance earned a gold ribbon. Good work ladies!!!

Swimming Merit Badge

Last October the boys in Mason's troop got together to earn the swimming merit badge. That's when we discovered that Mason can't swim and was really afraid of the deep water. This badge is required for the Eagle and it's really important that Mason knows how to swim. We started swimming lessons in November, took a break in December, and have been doing them since January to get him to this point. Today he finally passed off the requirements to earn his merit badge. He has worked so hard and has found that he actually enjoys swimming. It's one activity that I haven't had to drag him to. We gave him some motivation (see below) to get this one done. He was more than happy to collect as soon as he had his blue card. It's a huge relief to have one done :)

Festival Concert

We were blessed to listen to some more beautiful guitar music tonight. The Coronado guitar class is getting ready to go compete at a music festival next week. It was a very enjoyable evening.

Straight A's

Just a quick shout out for Chelsea. She worked so hard last quarter to finally get straight A's!!!! We are so proud of her!

Poster Child

We just got the latest addition of "Henderson Happenings" in the mail. Imagine our surprise when we see that our adorable Cord is on the cover with his adorable swimming teacher, a picture taken during one of his swimming lessons. I love the smile on his face. We now have a famous child, at least he can enjoy his 10 minutes of fame. His preschool teacher cut out the picture and posted it in their class. I'm not sure any of his friends asked for autographs though. Cord did think it was cool to see his picture on a magazine.

First dip in the new pool

Daddy has been working hard getting the pool ready to swim in. This is new teritory for us - or I should say him because I'm not do anything with it. His last few saturdays has been at the pool store or the hardware store working on it. He's been studying about how to make all the chemicals just right. He finally decided that it just needed to be drained and then refilled. Brianna and Cord decided that they just couldn't anymore so they hopped (or stepped) in. But the water was super cold so they didn't stay in for long. Hopefully it won't be to long before we can get our whole bodies wet - not just our feet.

Dance team awards banquet

All dressed up and ready to celebrate! Tonight was the time for the dance team, cheer leaders, and both girls and boys basketball teams to let loose and celebrate the close of another fabulous season. The parents come to celebrate them and have a banquet. To honor the girls dance teacher, each girl brought a gift card to any place of their choice and stuck them all in a nice plant. It looked so cool! She totally deserves it. Ms. Lisa pushed these girls to achieve greatness and they all love her. Each girl was presented with a trophy and the 8th graders received a special gift from Lisa. After the awards they kids got to dance to the music and have fun together.

(note the cool shoes Brianna is wearing - she borrowed them from her friend because they were so fabulous. But they were a little small and super high. I joked that she would be in big trouble if she fell in the parking lot and sprained her ankle! I think her feet were a little sore at the end of the evening but she wouldn't admit it :)

Brotherly love

We are lucky that these two boys really love each other. Mason is so good with Cord. He loves to entertain him. I found them cuddled up on the chair watching little funny videos on Mason's DS. I had to grab my camera and snap that moment in time. I love the smiles on their faces.
