The weather dictated a lot of what we did on this vacation. We had planned on hittin the beach today, but it was cool, windy, rainy. So we decided to hit Balboa park were we could do a lot of things inside. I had never been there and was plesantly surprised at all the fun opportunities here. We were able to hit 4-5 of the many museums there. The atmosphere there was fantastic.

Brianna really wanted to see the art museum. Mason loved this exhibit because it looked like a "Pokeman ball".

Cord on the other hand did not enjoy this museum at all. He started out in the stroller but was doing a lot of screaming so I tried to let him out. This picture was taken just before he ran under the metal fence behind him. That was followed promptly by a museum worker stern warning, "Mam, you need to control your child!". So Cord and I waited outside for the rest of the kids to finish. But as soon as we got out there, Cord decided he needed to go potty (one of the big challenges of this trip that we had to deal with for the first time). So I had to carry a screaming kid back into the art museum to find a bathroom. Not a fun experience!

The next museum the girls wanted to see was the Photography Museum. Once we got the the door, I quickly realized that the boys would not be going for this at all. Luckily the "Model Train Museum" was in the same building. So we split up. Good choice!! Cord LOVED this museum! There were stairs all over so he could get up close to the trains. Mason also seemed to enjoy himself.

For the next museum we were able to join up with Maria, Kennedy, and Rhylan to see the Natural History museum. It was filled with cool dinosaurs and other ancient animals and some cool interactive exhibits including a T-rex that moves. The only thing that Mason really wanted to see was this swinging penduleum that knocks over some blocks. He wanted to sit and watch it until it knocked one over but I couldn't keep Cord entertained in one spot that long so we kept fighing about what to do. I wanted to climb over the railing and knock one over just so we could go. Once we got going we were able to see some cool things.

The last museum we got to visit was the Science museum. While the big kids got to see an IMAX movie about the Hubble telescope (narrated by Leonardo DeCaprio), Cord and Rhylan got to explore all the fun science exhibits. I loved this museum because it was all hand-on. Lots of things to touch! And they had a kids zone that Cord loved.

We had an over-all good day. The kids ended it with a dip in the pool. I thought it was much to cold to get in so I just watched. I was too tired from chasing Cord all day anyway. I should have made all the kids go to bed and sat in the hot tub or something, I'm just not smart enough to think of that at the moment.
