To dye for

Another fun tradition, dyeing Easter Eggs.  As the kids get older they get more creative with their eggs.  It's even funner to do with cousins!

Cord is the first of my children to ever eat the eggs.  Usually we just create, then throw away.

Tired of dyeing eggs? Brianna decided to dye a section of her hair.

That's a lot of eggs. Almost 9 dozen (just a few casualities occurred in the process)

Ivins Egg Hunt

One of my favorite Easter traditions include the egg hunt in Ivins.  This year my sister joined me for the fun on this cool morning.  As the kids were checking out their eggs after the hunt, it was funny to watch the "adult" egg hunt.  My sister and I were laughing as we watched this old grandpa get in the middle of the action and come out rubbing his nose because he got elbowed in the caos.  Adults can be so silly.

Junior preview

After taking a minute to recover from our San Diego trip, we headed up to St. George for the rest of our spring break vacation.  We arrived at grandma's house last night, and early this morning Chelsea and I headed up to Cedar City to check out Southern Utah University as a possible college for her.  The junior preview program was well put together.  We attended a couple of workshops about how to choose a college, deadlines for admissions & scholarships, and how to get involved in college to make the most of the experience.  We got to tour the campus housing, have lunch in the cafeteria to get a feel of the SUU atmosphere, and then toured the campus itself.  We got to talk to the admissions counselors and several students.  Chelsea wasn't really thinking seriously about SUU but after the program I think it's now in her top 3.  She would love to go to Utah State but SUU has the same small town feel and is closer to home.  She'll apply to a few colleges and we'll see where the scholarships come in.  That will be a big factor.  We had an enjoyable day together.  It seems a little sur-real to be thinking about college already.  Not sure I'm ready for this step - but she is :)

Quick visit in Old Town

One thing that Brianna really wanted to do before we left was to go down to Old Town to see the Mormon Battalion visitors center and visit the old shops down there.  We decided we could do that before we left.  My sister, Maria, and her son were able to hang out with us that morning.  The visitors center is a lot of fun.  The kids loved panning for gold and they got to keep 2 pieces.  The shops were also fun, especially the candy shop and the apothacary/ candle shop.  Cord was able to dip a candle and I got a "courting candle".  The candle is lighted as a girl would go out with a boy and she was supposed to be home before the flame reached the top.  It could be adjusted up and down according to how much the parents like the boy.  We like the feel of Old Town and would have like to have spent more time there, but we were out of money so it's not really much fun to shop when you can't buy anything.  Next time we'll have to hit it first.

They took a picture of our group after the tour, I didn't realize my sister was cut out, bummer!
