Peeps and Pete

We all knew that grandma gum LOVED to eat peeps. In fact during Easter or other seasons when they made peeps, she would buy up a ton of them and fill up her freezer. While cleaning out her house after the funeral we kept finding boxes of peeps. And somehow a bunch of peeps ended up coming home with us. The girls had a plan. They bundled up the peeps with a cute note that said "You've been Peeped". Then they would leave them on the doorsteps of Brianna's friends, ring the bell, and run.

Then with the creative juices flowing, the kids came up with their very own "PEEP-SHOW" inspired from all the peep show signs that we see around Vegas.

Another fun way to spend the time is our favorite game "Don't Eat Pete". With an M&M on each square, the person who is IT keeps picking one at a time until they pick up the one that the other have named Pete. Then you yell "DON'T EAT PETE" usually scaring the person who is it. We play with candy. I sent a board home with the Anderson's and told them that I was sure they could play with vegetables and it would be just as much fun. Hahaha

Rained out picnic

We had a great plan to escape the heat, a picnic on mount charleston. So we packed up stuff for lunch and some baseball gear and headed up to the mountain. Boy were we surprised to see a tremendous rainstorm that engulfed the mountain. We haven't had any rain for such a long time. We drove around awhile and it didn't look like it let up so we pulled over and fixed our sandwhiches in the car. I even saw some hailstones and we heard some mighty thunder. On our way off the mountain we saw a trail where it wasn't raining so we pulled over and took a little walk. It was still cooler and a fun family get away. I enjoyed seeing Michael be so relaxed. With the bar overwith and a job secured he doesn't have much to stress about. He is still learning to sit and do nothing and feels a little lost without a book in his hand but it's a work in progress.

This is the mountain we were trying to have a picnic on. Can you see the patch of white?? Could it be snow in August? WIERD. The scenery was beautiful as we were taking our little walk.

Cousin time part 2

It wouldn't be summer without a visit to sand hallow swimming pool. A good time was had by all. We wrapped up our evening having rootbeer floats and playing card games while the little kids played outside.

More cousin time

Once again we are up in St. George for some more cousin time. Chelsea has spent the last week in St. George helping grandma get ready for school so we had to pick her up. We are also taking Rhylan home to spend a week with us. This morning we got to ride grandpa's race cars. This is always a hit. The little boys especially love it.

Miracle Mile Mall

Nothing like a little shopping to make you feel better. We went to the Miracle Mile Mall in Planet Hollywood. While they had their share of expensive shops, they also had stores like Bath and Body works where the girls stocked up on lotions, etc and Brianna's favorite make up store. If you look at all their shopping bags you would think that they spent a fortune, but in some of those bags there is only one small item. Looks good anyway. We did find a fun store called "Sugar". It was a super cool candy store where we treated ourself to some awesome cupcakes.

I had heard of a couple free features in the mall - The fountain show, and the Harbor Rainstorm. The fountain show looked like my sprinklers on speed (not cool) and it was right next to a strip club that freatured a huge stripper on a pole (notice there are no pictures taken here). We had gone through the mall but had a half hour to wait til the next rainstorm. So we waited 30 min to see some water sprinkle from the ceiling with some lights flashing (lightning). It was also lame. Guess you don't know until you try. It was still a fun evening.

Kennedy comes to town

We finally get our time with Kennedy for the summer. She'll be here for two weeks. Her brother Rhylan is up in st. george with my other sister. He'll join us next week. We have a lot of exciting things planned. I always forget the fun things to do in Vegas until she comes to visit. Tonight we headed over to Ceasers Palace to look at the Forum shops. We even went into a couple of stores. As I reached for a price tag Brianna commanded me to STOP. She said, "don't look at the prices, it will take the fun out of it.". She was right. How can anyone pay $500.00 for a pair of shorts. Good Grief! On our way home we stopped for some ice cream. It's our job to give Kennedy as much sugar and junk food as possible before she has to go home and de-tox.

Mason graduates from 5th grade

We had the pleasure of attending Mason's 5th grade graduation ceremony tonight. We are glad he is short because that meant he was in front :). He also received his "Give Me Liberty" award. He worked really hard for that. He had to write the pledge of allegience (perfect spelling), memorize (with spelling and identification) of all states and capitals, memorize the preamble, sing first verse of star spangled banner, memorize first and last names of US presidents in order, and recite the Gettysburg Address with less than 3 errors. He received a super cool plague to hang on his wall.

Mason has had a great last year of elementary school. He loved his teacher Mrs. Hughes and had some good friends. He'll go on to tackle the middle school next year. At least he'll have a super cute 8th grader to watch out for him (Brianna). His official last day will be on thursday the 5th. Then he'll have a few weeks to veg out before he starts school again. BOO to year round school. But we won't have to worry about it next year!

Grandma's house

I have a lot of memories at my grandparents house. She always took great pride in her garden and had recently redone her backyard with all these beautiful flowers.
